Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The grapes for this single vineyard Cabernet Franc were grown on our estate vineyard, River Rock Vineyards, which surrounds our winery in Oliver BC. The vines were in their 10th leaf when the fruit was harvested. Vineyard are all on south facing slopes where soils are composed of rock, sand, and gravel laid down during the last glacial recession.
Production Notes
The Cabernet Franc was hand picked on October 18th, and destemmed. Approximately 80% of the fruit was left whole, uncrushed. The grapes were cold soaked between 3-5 days and then fermented in a 2850 litre stainless steel tank. The cap was plunged 2-3 time/day maximize skin to juice contact. Following fermentation the wine was pressed and transfered to another tank to settle then to barrels where malolactic fermentation was completed. Wine was aged in French oak barrels for approximately14 months (33% new). Following aging, final filtering, and bottling were completed.
Winemaker Notes
The 2012 Cabernet Franc has a medium body, ripe varietal fruit, balanced acidity, moderate, mature tannins creating a rich, lasting mouthfeel. This wine is presently showing ripe varietal fruit character including blueberries, black currants, black cherries, and a nice hint of French oak. This wine will easily age well 7-10 years+.
Other Notes
Critic Review: "This is gorgeous cabernet franc, arch-classic in style with beguiling floral character, supported by perfectly measured fruit ripeness and very gentle, integrated barrel influence. Would that all Canadian cab francs could approximate this wine. The earth, fruit, herbal and vegetal notes are in perfect balance. Enjoy now or hold until the end of the decade or longer. Tasted June 2014."

Normally cellar for a few more years but cheated and opened a bottle early. Wow!. Love the abundance of rich ripe fruit. Wonderful full after taste. Will resist opening the other 5 bottles for a couple of years. Riverstone you make great wine at a very affordable price.
