River Stone Estate Winery Takes Home Three Gold Medals at Recent Wine Awards

River Stone Estate Winery is proud to announce that three of their white wines have taken home gold medals at the recent All Canadian Wine Championships.

The ACWC started back in 1981, founded by a staff writer for the Windsor Star, Brian Bannon who was assigned as their medical reporter, but also did a wine column on the side. It was run annually in Windsor, Ontario. Roughly 20 judges from across Canada are now invited to join the judging panel. They are wine writers, Sommeliers, and professional wine judges from the Wine Judges of Ontario. Some judges have been with the competition for 20+ years. Wines are scored using the 100 point system.

Among the most notable achievements, River Stone Estate Winery's white blend, the 2023 Splash, emerged as a true standout in the lineup, earning a gold medal. "A blend of Pinot Gris, Viognier, Gewurztraminer. White gold in colour; aromatic, floral, peachy nose with a thread of minerality; medium-bodied, just off-dry with a peach and lychee flavour. A little Gewurz goes a long way! Well-balanced and easy drinking." (90 Points) ~ Tony Aspler, Independent Wine Writer

Adding to the winery's impressive achievements, the 2023 Pinot Gris has also garnered significant acclaim, earning a prestigious gold medal. This award not only highlights the exceptional quality of the vintage but also reinforces the winery's commitment to producing top-tier wines that resonate with both critics and consumers alike. "This stainless steel fermented wine is crisp, with aromas and flavours of pear and apple wrapped around a spine of minerality. 91 Points." ~ John Schreiner, Independant Wine Writer

Last, but certainly not least, is River Stone's extremely popular Sauvignon Blanc. The 2023 vintage claimed a third gold medal in the recent ACWC and is currently available in the Tasting Room in mini 200ml bottles. The 750ml bottles are set to be released in mid-August in a small batch to wine club members, as the production of this wine is in limited quantity due to the cold snap two winters ago which damaged vines across the Okanagan Valley. "Fermented cool in stainless steel, this wine is in the refreshing, zesty style that recalls New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The wine has aromas and flavours of lemon and lime with a crisp, yet juicy, finish. 92 Points. ~ John Schreiner, Independent Wine Writer

All of these award winning wines are available for purchase in the wine shop, online, and at select liquor stores and restaurants throughout BC.
